What Srikrishna Commission Said About 1992 Bombay Riots That Led to 1993 Blasts

Bal Thackeray's Shiv Sainiks were indicted by the Justice Srikrishna Committee probing the 1992 Bombay riots that claimed more than 1000 lives.

Yakub Memon has been finally hanged. It is being claimed that his execution will give a sense of relief and closure to the survivors of the 1993 Mumbai blasts. India’s electronic media has been running numerous interviews of the victims and survivors of those blasts.

Much has been written on the merits and demerits of the sentence of Yakub Memon and this discussion will rage for a long time to come. However, if his execution has really given solace to the families of those who suffered in the 1993 blasts, will any step be also taken to deliver justice to the victims of the savage anti-Muslim riots that claimed more than a thousand lives and instigated the serial blasts carried out in March 1993?

To put the issue in perspective and remind our readers of the terrorism that Muslims of Mumbai had to face in 1992-93 we are producing an abridged version of Srikrishna Commission Report, published in 1998 by a London based organization, with a hope that those who have supported Memon’s execution so vociferously will also demand with the same force that justice be done not only to the victims of 1992-1993 anti-Muslim riots but the survivors of the 2002 Gujarat pogrom as well.
